I’ve just finished my first week at university, and I’m surprised how quickly it went. The week was full of inductions and enrolling, I spoke to a lot of new people and also had a good look around the university. The campus is so big, I was glad that they gave us a map, because even with the map I got lost more times than I would like to admit. There has been a lot to take in this week, but I’ve enjoyed it.
The commute is tiring, but hopefully I’ll get used to it soon. The train journeys themselves aren’t too long, 15 minutes on one and then 10 minutes on the next, it’s the walking that takes the most time. It’s a mile walk to my local train station, and then after getting the train it’s just under a mile to the university. Fortunately I don’t have to walk up any hills, and at least it’s good exercise.
Next week will be my first proper week at university as I’ll be having my first lectures and seminars, and I’m really looking forward to them. I’m looking forward to getting back to normality, having a timetable and having actual structured work to do, after my very lazy summer holidays. My timetable was confirmed on Friday, and I’m really happy with it:
I was worried that I would have all of my lectures in one or two days and then the rest of the week free, but this timetable turned out really good as each day I’m focusing on one topic, and the only day I’m free is Tuesdays. I’m studying History so my timetable isn’t very busy, as we’re supposed to do a lot of independent study and reading, which should be interesting.
Other than going to university (which I promise won’t be the only thing I ever blog about!), this week I also successfully booked tickets to see Muse with 3 of my friends in November. We had tried and failed to buy them when they were first released a couple of months ago, so I was really happy when we were able to get some when more tickets were released on Thursday! They aren’t the best tickets, but at least we’ll be there. I also recently got tickets to see Paramore in December, which I’m also really looking forward to. So, November and December both look like they’re going to be very good months
On a final note, on Tuesday (29/09/09) it’s s0nerdy.net’s 2nd birthday! I can’t believe how quickly that time has gone.

and is currently studying History at university.
